DIY Laundry Detergent ... that works!

Hey friends! In an effort to move towards that low-tox lifestyle we're dreaming of, tackling our household products is an important step in that. I can't recall exactly where I found this laundry detergent recipe but I've been using and loving it for a while. It's super simple, works well, uses minimal ingredients and is cost-effective! Plus, since most of what goes in it can be found in your pantry already (or from a quick trip to the bulk store), whipping up a batch is easy and takes less than 5 minutes!

Pro-tip: if you've already got a liquid laundry detergent container/bottle in your home, once you're finished with its contents, wash the container out and re-use it for your DIY laundry detergent. A large epsom container also works well!

Here's what you'll need:

* 4.5 L hot water

* 1 Cup Castile Soap

* 1 Cup Baking Soda

* 1/4 Cup Coarse Salt

* 30 Drops of Essential Oils of Your Choosing (I use equal parts Lemon, Tea Tree and Lavender)

Put all ingredients (except the water) into your container. Gradually add the hot water. Shake before each use and use as you normally would any other liquid laundry detergent.
